We run a Literacy Week every other year, part of the week long celebration is a Read-a-thon. Details of previous events are described below.
To promote reading, St. Mary’s students will be participating in a Read-a-thon this month. A Read-A-Thon is designed to reinforce good reading habits while raising funds to support our classroom libraries and school wide reading programs. Students will ask for pledges for how many pages, books, or minutes they can read in a set amount of time: April 8-18, 2016!
As an added twist we will be dividing the school into two competing sides during the Read-a-thon. There will be a light and dark side! Students will be told what side they are on, and to come dressed in white or black, in the days leading up the Opening Assembly.
Families, friends and neighbours can also pledge a flat rate. The goal is to read as many pages, books, or minutes as you can to raise as much money as you can.
All pledges are due to the homeroom teacher by April 20th because the Grande Reveal will take place at the Closing Assembly on Thursday April 21.
Who participates: Any student Kindergarten - Grade 6
When: Friday, April 8th – 18th 2016
